Fibre
Q: How long does fibre take to install?
A: Installation times vary based on location and can range from 2 weeks to 90 days on average. Once we know your location we’ll be able to run a feasibility check and give you a more accurate estimate. As our providers lay their Fibre network, current deployment lead times can be lengthy. This is due to the process involved with infrastructure planning, engaging with local municipalities, digging and trenching.
The good news is that you don’t have to wait for months without connectivity. As proud innovators in our industry, we offer temporary wireless links whilst your Fibre is being deployed.
Q: What happens If I would like to upgrade my speed?
A: Upgrades can be actioned within 2 business days, so that your connectivity can grow in step with your business.
Q: Will I need a router?
A: No, this is a managed service and a business grade router will be provided. You can upgrade to an even more powerful router should you wish.
Q: Can I move offices while under contract?
A: We can migrate your service, subject to feasibility and service availability at the new location.
Q: Does VDS offer other Fibre speeds?
A: We offer a range of cost-effective packages. Our Consultants will be able to help you choose the one that is best suited to your specific needs.
Q: Is this a contracted service?

FTTH – Fibre to the Home
Q: What is FTTH?
A: FTTH stands for Fibre to the Home. FTTH bringing high speed networking i.e. high-speed internet, digital television and telephone service to residents using fibre optic cables. It is a broadband telecommunications system which is based on fibre optic cables and associated optical electronics for delivery of multiple advanced services to homes.
Q: We like to do a lot of streaming and downloading, will FTTH be the right choice?
A: Absolutely – We would advise looking at our uncapped package.
Q: What is the difference between Fibre and ADSL?
A: ADSL Use Copper which can be unreliable at times and can be heavily contended. ADSL offers a limited speed depending on the exchange in the area. Speeds can vary from 2 Mbps – 10 Mbps. ADSL is prone to copper theft and can cause significant down time.
Fibre is very fast and offers a much more stable, reliable low contended connection. Easy to repair and speeds can exceed 1 Gbps. Fibre also offers a much higher upload speed then traditional ADSL.
Q: What does Uncapped Mean?
A: Simply means that you have no limit to the amount of data you can use over your connection. You can download, Upload and stream all you want and never worry about receiving bills for additional usage.
Q: How do I know if I am feasible for Fibre at my home?
A: Please email sales@vds.world – One of our consultants will ensure that contact is made to get all the relevant details and to answer any questions you have.
Q: How long does Fibre take to be installed?
A: If you do not have Fibre into your premises the lead time can take approximately 2-3 weeks. The last mile provider (Octotel / Vumatel / Frogfoot) will take care of the installation and we will activate and manage your internet for you.
Q: Is VDS Home Fibre on a Contract Service?
A: No, Our Home Fibre is a Month to month agreement.
